    The Tide Is High...

    ... and over the wall.

    Bosham last month...

The Tide Is High - And Over The Wall
    by Nigel Hayes, on Flickr

Had some particularly high spring tides last month, this is the first time in all my visits to Bosham that I've seen the tide overtop the harbour wall.

Nice shot Nigel, a sign of things to come more often I’m afraid.

Thank you all for your comments.

This was a first for me though to be fair not a first for Bosham. All the houses and cottages close to the tidal zone have flood barriers on their gates and/or entry doors. The Anchor Bleu pub

which backs directly on the harbour has flood record marks on the wall and even has a watertight door to the rear outdoor seating area...

The weather wasn't that great so there may also have been a decent low pressure allowing a bit of extra height and of course storms coinciding with high tides are often a problem here. Up until this day all the high tides I've witnessed have managed to stay below the harbour wall.

Could be worse though, at another local beach some of the houses nearest the front are slightly below sea level - fortunately the sea wall is pretty high and well reinforced.
