    100mm 2.8 IS Test

Well - I lov'ed my Tamron 90 but Saturday I had the chance to buy the EF100mm 2.8 IS at a really good price and just bought it (will worry about the bill later) HAD to try a few shots just to see what it's like and the verdict. . . . I'm a believer - it's awesome!

    mk4 hand held.

    #1 - 1/250, f/4, iso 100

    #2 - 1/800, f/2.8, iso 320

    #3 - crop from above

    #4 - 1/800, f/3.2, iso 400

    Then rain stopped play

This is the paved footpath I was stood on - at least an inch deep in less than 10 minutes

    Thanks for looking.

    .DAVID.

          Great shots !
The Tamron 90 is well though of. The canon is a nicer peice of kit all round, and if you're going to do a lot of macro you might as well have the Canon. Good portrait lens too !

              Happy new toy David.

Canon certainly make good macro lenses and you are giving this one a good test.

Great shots, have been very tempted for a while to move to the L version. Have the normal 100mm f/2.8. Might start saving my pennies.

Think I was 510mm away (according to the file data)for his shot (yes it's cropped in) I believe the Tamron you can get a bit closer than that, just need a steady hand and / or a quick shutter speed. Flash helps a lot BUT if your really close then you will need either a ring flash or off camera flash so the barrel of the lens doesn't throw a shadow.

                      Hope that helps
