I am a semi retired Toolmaker and when machining various types of steel the swarf (scrap) that is produced makes for some very interesting subjects. Here are just three. Comments are very welcome.

Very unusual Ian, I like the concept and of the 3 images #1 works best for me, I feel it is clean and has a nice flow to the swarf. -

I like the simplicity of number 1, but a little more depth of field would have helped the shot.

After 50+ years that is the first time I have seen a piece of swarf like that, I take your point Colin and will have another play with the dof. This piece was from the lathe, classic scrolling swarf. I think the dog is just about right.

DeeGee, As soon as I say those two pieces thats what came to mind. I have seen rings made in a similar design using different coloured gold.
