Sorry but I don't know my insects at all but this beautiful butterfly visited our garden in Thailand (2 more days, back again...yeah!)

Lovely :). Looks like a Painted Jezebel (Delias hyparete) but I am not sure.

Thanks Kurt - a quick google search appears to confirm that - its a lovely butterfly and I'm so happy to have it visit my garden.

Great images Andy, I've just zoomed in on the wing area of the first image on my phone. This gave it a very artistic abstract painting look. One of those expensive painting you can see in high end galleries IYSWIM

Thanks everyone, I was expecting comments like that the colours were too vivid so I was pleasantly surprised at the positive feedback. I did tone the 1st down quite a bit in LR5 using curves, which has become my first port of call for post processing, and thought maybe I might have over-done that too.

Anyway, I return tomorrow Muscat, but I doubt this particular butterfly will be around - probably the next generation of caterpillars are metamorphosing in secret places all around. However, I'm sure something else will be taking its turn at showing off its beauty for my camera, though. I just love the place - you just have to slow down enough to see it, which most tourists only do when they get to the beach.
