    Dragonfly leaving pupa

    Dragonfly emerging from pupa (I think)

    Don't normally do macros (cos I'm crap at them), but I saw this in my neighbours pond, I don't have a dedicated macro lens, so I borrowed my other neighbours 100mm F2.8 IS Macro (what a cracking lens) for this

    Taken with a 1Ds MKIII

    1/125 sec; f/11; ISO 400, Aperture priority; Spot metering

    you get on well with your neighbours ;o) ... Great detail but I would have lost the branch on the right in PP -

                  nice and sharp but you missed the dragonfly this is the nymphs outer body called the exuvia the dragonfly emerges from this taking up to two hours to pump up the new body and harden out
