    Beautiful Demoiselle - female

    I have loads of male shots but very few female so was pleased to get a few yesterday at Hillier Gardens

          Very high level of detail there Stan, particularly the hairs on the legs. Very nice.
          EOS 7D mk II, Sigma 150-660C, Canon 17-85 EF-S, Tamron 10-24 and a wife who shares my obsession.

                To say you have nailed it would be an understatement, beautiful colours and the focus is bang on, think out of the two I prefer the first one.

                as a side note - I always thought they were 'damsel' flies, I have changed my gallery title to 'Demoiselle' instead. Thanks

                  as a side note - I always thought they were 'damsel' flies, I have changed my gallery title to 'Demoiselle' instead
                  it is a bit confusing - they are all in fact dragonflies, the order odonata which are divided into two suborders , the first being anisoptera which are the "true" dragonflies with wider bodies such as the darters, hawkers, skimmers etc and zygoptera, which consists of the slender bodied damselflies including the demoiselles.
