    Small Tortoiseshell

Been after this fellow for a few days now.

He appears in the garden, late afternoon, I go and get the camera, and when I come out he's gone.

Today I sat in the garden near to his favourite plant, and waited for over an hour for him to appear. This time, no escape!!

    5D3 + Sigma EX 105 macro, 1/125th at f/11, and ISO 800. Hand held.

          Re: Small Tortoiseshell

          Thanks guys.

I'd like to get out and do more, but I'm still suffering (soreness) from the surgery, and although I can now drive, I get quite sore when walking.

As such, I'm limited to photographing in the garden at the moment.

Still, a visit to the hospital yesterday, showed that things are moving forward nicely now.

Great detail Dave. Just shows you don't need to go far for a great picture.

                Re: Small Tortoiseshell

Not the best of backgrounds Dave but due to your constraints of movement at the moment, not too bad but the composition could be improved by not having the butterfly dead centre. If you have cropped at all, I would have put the butterfly on the diagonal pointing towards the top right corner

Couldn't do much about the background Stan, as that's where he settled before flying off. I do appreciate your constructive comment re composition. Many thanks
