    Horse Fly

    shot quite a few of these today at RSPB Arne, they tend to stay more still than most flies and being much bigger makes them a little easier to shoot. The first is full frame and the second, head on shot has been cropped a little. Both hand held with Canon 100 f2.8 L IS

    excellent - whilst both are great shots, the 2nd is stunning ++

        Wow that 2nd image is outstanding. What a face on that fly. A well groomed mustache & goatee. Looks like a real beatnik.

                        Brilliant detail...horrible little creatures....you don't know they've landed on you until they fly off leaving a trickle of blood ...not nice!

                          I'll vouch for that, I didn't notice the blood but I did notice my elbow trying to resemble a rugby ball
