      macro to me means almost filling the frame with a small subject and showing bags of detail so on that basis this one doesn't work too well for me. The snails are rather dull, might have worked better with a more colourful species

        In terms of definition you're right Stan, it's rather close-up photography
        And yes, maybe the're dull colorwise, but (i.m.o.) I think, positioned like this against the colourful background, they still pop-out.

        In my (macro)work I try to show the animals in their natural habitat, finding balance between the two elements (Zoo pictures excluded of course, not much "natural" about that ). The enviromont has to play it's part, but the animal must have the lead role.
