Very good Stan. When we get a nice day (rain, rain and yet more rain up here) I know we get these in the garden .. but not for very long I guess. I'll have a go with me own 300 + 1.4x.

Well spotted Stan, I have a few shots of a Damsel eating a Mayfly taken by my garden pond. That was the only time I remember having seen one eating in the dozen or so years since we stopped keeping fish and allowed the pond to be a nature pond.

Thats definate a WITT shot (wish I'd took that!) didn't expect them to eat flys, for some reason never thought about what they'd eat.

same here yesterday and still raining now

is that their normal diet?

I have not seen one eating before but flies and in fact any flying insect including midges and mosquitos and as Keith says, mayflies. Apparently they will also eat butterflies, moths and bugs
