      Thanks Stan. There were two mating low down in the grass and I managed to get close and grab a few pics. Then just sat watching them. Eventually they separated and I grabbed this shot of, I think, the male.

        don't know about thick headed, he definately has big eyes.

            About 10 cm or 4 in away. The fly was very cooperative and I had plenty of time to get the shot. Here's another shot.

                Wow, I need to bond (build a relationship) with these creature in order for them to pose like that. That's another of saying that I think you did an amazing job!

                        The hardest part of getting this type of shot is stuffing the little beggars (you didn't really think they are alive did you! )

                        Joking apart, exemplary work Les - this is my kind of subject
                        My camera is helping to look at the world more closely, then record what I see to share with others.
