    Momento

Produced for submission in another place.

This small piece of rock (about 1.25" long) is a momento I took from a colliery spoil heap - the black inclusions are coal. I was moved to take it because I had just been bounced out of the basket of a hot air balloon during a very positive landing with the rip line tangled round my foot and I had been dragged face down across the heap for about 50 yards before the balloon finally came to rest. Not a day to forget!

Ouch springs to mind John, quite a memento, I'll avoid a balloon trip. Reminds me of the time I nearly went hang gliding whilst erecting a tent in Scotland

I thought when I first saw it you had been into space photographing asteroids, I was going to ask what shutter speed you used. Never been ballooning, but did once have a frightening experience on a jump.

Quite a tale behind that John, hope it wasn't too painful.

Hope all is ok, I didn’t fancy going up in a balloon anyway…

Nice shot but that sounds a hard way of going about it!

A very hard landing, ouch. Great picture though.
