    National symbols

After a couple of weeks rest from the macro challenge, this week it is "National Symbols". I chose the Tudor Rose as depicted on this 20p coin.

£2 18/- for my first wage in 1965 as an apprentice draughtsman(I got bored in the drawing office and transferred to the workshop and finished as an electrical mechanical engineer) I think a pint was 1/6d, same for a packet of 10 Park Drive and a gallon of two stroke for my Yamaha YDS 2 motor bike was 6/8d

Thinking about it I wasn't 16 till '66, so it was a year later when I got my 250cc Yam for my 16th birthday(generous parents stumped up the deposit) so I think 5 bob would have been the petrol price. I remember they also put up the price of a 45 rpm single record from 5/- to 6/8d around the same time, damn politicians.
