    Weasel in the Wild

Another moment of excitement on Hengistbury this morning when I spotted my first wild weasel up there. It was moving fast so I only managed a couple of grabbed shots and even 1/1000th sec wasn't fast enough to stop motion blur, but I saw "her"? and got her.

Very well done, I've seen weasels but only briefly and never when trying to take pics.

        Well captured OC!!
Its a great feeling when you manage to get unexpected images like this - like I found out last week when shooting my Otter images.
        What a Buzz!!

Well done to get any sort of image, they move like lightning most of the time, for me there is something more satisfying in a wild shot that's not quite perfect, than a perfect captive shot

Well done, I have seen them in the wild but never had a camera with me and even if I had I doubt that I would have managed to get a shot as good as yours.

thanks for the comments everyone. I do see them in the wild ocassionally but never here before and never with my camera so it did rather make my morning (even though it is a poor shot compared to what is possible under more controlled conditions).
I'm up to the BWC in a week or so, maybe I will see there's and get a better image then

I keep getting the odd duplicate now and then, for no apparent reason. Anyone have any clues why?

all you normally see is a small, rippling piece of furry rope, shooting along the ground or though the leaves (which was the case here). I was lucky that it had a few feet to reach cover so had the time to frame and shoot.
It always amazes me that something so small can kill a rabbit and drag it back to its den

I saw one for nearly 20 minutes and didn't have a camera with me. You've done better than I have in actually capturing one.

With all that time available to you, you didn't need the camera Colin, just a sketch pad!

(any word on your 1DX yet?)

Amazing shot, even though there is a slight blur, it's still impressive.

                            Re: Weasel in the Wild

Wow what a coincidence , I saw a least weasel too this Sunday ! (I think your is a least weasel due to entirely red tail) .
I was a very lucky sausage as I had my 550d in hand with 400mm on the front got a nice "headshot" of the thing .
Was surprised at the sharpness of the lens (just got it 10 days ago) , lot of detail , especially as these least weasels are only 5 inches long at most !

Will have a go at JPGing the image and posting it here , any tips for a watermark I am a bit paranoid about putting my shots on the web ?
