Baby Seals and the Aaah Factor

    Hi All,

Took a trip to Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire Coast to see the Annual Birthing of the Grey Seal Pups, very changeable light and I made setting errors, too many people to use the Tripod really and the Sun came out as we were half way home!!!

Great shots, all of them. Number 6 is just superb. Look at those eyes.

All fabulous images Paul, but the eye contact in #6 sets it apart from the rest. Wonderful !!

            Hi Paul,

Good set of pictures, mate. I'll bet there was a crowd and a half there, with the weather being so nice. You really need to get there fairly early for the light - by mid afternoon the sun's disappearing behind the dunes and like you say - makes for difficult lighting. You've still done a cracking job

Yes really cracking set although a couple seem to be colour casted.
              Cheers

Love all the images, you have captured them well, however I really like the 1st image, the way the grass frames the face, it just stunning

Re: Baby Seals and the Aaah Factor

Thank you to all who have taken the time to look and comment, I do agree with Treff that a couple have a bit too much colour, that is me playing with the sliders a bit too much to try and rectify my settings errors on the day!!!

I would urge anyone who is close enough to go and witness this spectacle, it is very rewarding, there will be about 1200 Pups born this year, the path takes you so close to a lot of them that you could as near as dammit touch them, you certainly don't need a massive lens to capture them.

Lots of lucky people on the Saturday whilst we were there, actually witnessed pups being born right in front of them.

For anyone interested, Donna Nook is an active RAF Bombing Range and may be used during the week but never at weekends, weekdays are much quieter in regard to visitors for obvious reasons, so you would have room to use a Tripod.

It is signposted from North Somercotes Village which is just South of Mablethorpe on the Lincolnshire Coast.

                        Regards Paul
