    Leopard at last

They say that "patience is a virtue" well - it has taken more than a few years but yesterday we actually had some luck with the Leopard at Colchester - taken through the viewing glass but still pretty happy with the results (think I managed to remove / hide most of the scratches / smears from the glass)

    #1 - 1/800, f/2.8, iso 1600, 150mm

    #2 - 1/800, f/2.8, iso 1600, 200mm

    #3 - 1/800, f/2.8, iso 1600, 105mm MY favourite from the whole lot

#4 - 1/800, f/3.2, iso 1600, 115mm Go on - rub my belly, you know you want to

    #5 - 1/800, f/2.8, iso 1600, 200mm Purr purr puurrrrrrrr

    Thanks for looking.

    .DAVID.

            All are superb David,

Nobody would have known they were taken through glass I don't think if you hadn't mentioned it.

You have done very well with these David getting some quite natural looking backgrounds. The first is the pick

                    Re: Leopard at last

Thank you one and all, as I said - it was a while coming but on the whole I'm very happy with the results, even made a point of trying for the more 'natural' backgrounds (thanks Stan) Only thing I was a little annoyed with. . . . . me. . . . . for some reason I had set the camera to TV and the speed to 1/800 (may of been for the birds we saw when we entered the Zoo) so the majority of them were shot at iso 1600, lesson learnt ? probably not lol.

Anyway, thank you again and feel free to check out the Wolf / Tiger / Cheetah and few others HERE and don't panic - no where near as many shot's as I usually take :-)

                      Patience well rewarded.

Wildlife is not renowned for being very cooperative and you may have to wait years before that special shot in the back of your mind comes to fruition. But when it does, all the waiting never seems a problem.

Number one is the lead image. But I also like the contentment on the last one as well.

No 1 does it for me too, nice shot. And the higher ISO isn't too noisy IMO.

                            Re: Leopard at last

I am not a fan of images not taken in the wild, just not natural enough but for you all it is easier said than done (personal preference)

                            HOWEVER

Let me say that they are cracking images, one or two that could do with a little recovery and darkening of highlights, however cracking images. I love the shallow DOF, just the face in focus, especially the first image as mentioned by a few others. Super sharp and nothing wrong with the high ISO. The slight turned head and the stare. Just watch out for cutting off body bits, in the first image I would if possible add just a little extra at the bottom so that the feet are all there.

Really well done and hopefully one day you can join me in Africa and we can go take images of leopards in the wild bush ;)

                            Congrats on these.
