    Dubai Desert Conservation Centre

    Hi

Whilst traveling out to my current location, I was fortunate enough to have to transit Dubai. With some free time between flights I arranged a trip with Arabian Adventures to go out and visit the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.

It presents a unique opportunity to explore a natural habitat and a fragile ecosystem. The reserve is home to a wealth of flora, fauna and birds – to spot the Arabian Oryx and gazelles.

I was trying out a Tamron 70 – 210 f2.8 lens which a friend have allowed me to borrow – not too sure on the images – and I struggled with the lens to be honest - WDYT?

    Re: Dubai Desert Conservation Centre

I love the composition of the first one, but I feel that it is a tad underexposed. Both 1 and 2 seem to have some wierd colours going on, a bit like a really cheapo polariser was used.
    Still a good set tho.

There is a great deal of potential in the first shot, just needs bringing out in post processing.

All the images are nicely composed. Howver they all appear to be a tad bit soft. Not sure if it is a result of the lens or from posting. As for the 1st image, I tend to agree with Colin that if you have a play in post processing, you can really bring out the quality of that image.

I think they are a little bit soft. I also think the first one is under exposed. I appreciate during the day it can be really bright and almost impossible to get a shallow DoF. Did you post process the sky that way? I've spent a lot of time in the middle east and DXB in particular and have never seen it like your first two shots. That said the 2 Oryx shots are for me both nice compositions.

            Hi all

thanks for your comments and critique.

I really struggled with the lens and it was my first time using it so I was a little dissapointed with some of the shots I got - but that is all part of the learning process I guess.

I also have been reading about PSE9 with a Scott Kelby book and I think that I have either:

            1. Misunderstood some of the settings
            or
            2. tweaked with something that wasn't required.

Luckily I shoot in RAW so I have the ability to go back and try and fix / assess where I went wrong.

Added top that the laptop I am using whislt deployed is utter rubbish and needs replacing.

There are some positives in the shots of the oryx so I will go back and try again. Hits and tips welcome

            Thanks again for the comments.

Paul - very kind of you to take the time to post considering where you are off (may you and those with you stay safe).
