Cory and I went to the UKWCT yesterday - a birthday treat for Cory, originally I couldn't go due to space but the day before I got a call with a cancellation. My main objective for the day was to get a shot of Cory with a wolf, got that and then the staff arranged one better by setting it up so that Cory could pet 2 of the wolves at the same time!
#1 - 1/1250, f/4.5, iso 800, 75mm
I was made up with it so you can imagine how Cory felt - Huge thank you to the staff / volunteers for an exceptional day. PLUS - after days of awful weather it turned out to be blue skies and sunshine for the majority of it - even had to take coats off part way through the day!
Cory took the 70-200 2.8 for the day so I took a chance and went with the 300 2.8 and the 24-105 for the walk (used for the shot above), the 300 was probably a little too much for most of the day BUT it worked out okay especially when the resident red kites came over - although a few were so close I couldn't get them all in frame (go to a wolf sanctuary and take photo's of a kite - shakes head)
Few of my favourites from the day. These all taken using the 1Dmk4 and the 300mm 2.8 mkii
#2 - 1/640, f/3.5, iso 100, 300mm - what a welcome, sat watching us get the kit out of the car
#3 - 1/1250, f/4, iso 100, 300mm - very handsome boy, probably one of the most photogenic for me
#4 - 1/1250, f/4.5, iso 100, 300mm - a real poser for sure
#5 - 1/1600, f/2.8, iso 250, 300mm - smile for the cameras
#6 - 1/1250, f/4, iso 800, 67mm (24-105) one more of Cory - it was all for her after all.
Cory took waaaaaaaay more photo's than me which is unusual and hopefully I will be able to get her to post some up (she out did me again - not that were competitive or anything lol)
Rest of mine for the day are HERE
.DAVID.
PS: thanks to Stan for the advice, good day enjoyed by all
