    Turkish Tortoise

    Quite common in the wild in Turkey, as they were in Menorca last year but the Turkish ones seem to be generally smaller, at least this one was only about 3" long

    That first one is zipping along..................You should have entered him for the last photo challenge "Movement" !

            That first one is zipping along..................
            he was on the wall when he suddenly decided to leg it - the second is the same tortoise as Dee had picked him up to put him in the shade otherwise it was so hot he may have cooked

              Thought you might like a Menorcan Tortoise for comparison. There are lots in the "campo" outside our back garden. In summer when it gets dry we put unwanted salad stuff out there- this guy saw me and came rapidly towards me looking for food. They can give quite a nip if you put your finger in the way!

                Yes we saw them in Menorco last year on holiday, hermanns tortoise I believe, and they are a bit bigger than those in Turkey
