    Kruger Lion and Rhino with Calf

    Just got back from South Africa and another visit to the Kruger.
    Spotted 2 of the Big 5 at the same time

    Here's a shot of a Lioness who was interested in the Rhino calf just visible behind mum in this shot: -

          What an excellent set, with gorgeous light, the first does take the biscuit.

            I love the lighting in number 1
            I agree completely, they look like early morning shots, and shot with a 200mm lens, you must have got quite close. Great shots.

            I'm in the Kruger (for the first time) in October. Can't wait!

              The light is fantastic at this time of year.
              Russell these were taken late afternoon when the sun was low and casting a beautiful golden glow.
              No. 1 was may shot of the whole trip. The light picks out the outline of the lion really well.
              Your also right I was very close. At one point the lion was walking towards the car and I did feel the need to put the window glass up get a little.

                Simon, lovely set but no 1 simply takes the biscuit. Wonderful subject matter, telling an interesting story, with great composition and cracking lighting.

                  Just looking through some more of the images from that afternoon and thought I'd add this one to make a nice set of 4.
                  Again the lighting picks out the lions shape well against the background.........

                    Wow, great set Simon. Again, #1 is astounding. You certainly wouldn't want to get in the way of that rhino horn!

                      It's a great shot, but on my screen a little too bright. If you tone down the highlights just a tad, it becomes superb. Note that might just be my screen of course.
