    I think that your shutter speed maybe contributing to the softness of these images. As for the set I like the pose and composition of the 2nd image, however the tail looks a blown out.

      Also, @ 400mm the normal rule is the the shutter speed should be equal to or greater than the focal length. Your aperture to be larger to compensate for the faster shutter speed.

        Thanks Tom Have re uploaded the second image which is as Shot and although the original image looked as if the tail was blown according to the histogram it wasn't.
