    Getting Old & Grey

    This is a 50 year old (female) chimp. Spent nearly all of her life in captivity. I know the present fashion for black and white photography is to be the high contrast sort but I thought a more subtle 'graphite' look would suit this subject. The tight & somewhat unflattering crop is intentional ~ in order to make the viewer feel less less esay about the subject & her lifstyle.

                Nicely done and suits the B&W treatment.

                  Hi James;

                  You've certainly achieved a 'meaningful' image. Captive animals do have a role, but it's frequently a difficult one to justify... Simians especially make it hard to 'accept' because of their 'human' characteristics, and the older ones just look as if they have that 'world of knowledge' about them...

                  Great job...

                  Cheers;

                  Lee
