    Humboldt Penguin Swimming

Went to Marwell Wildlife today with the main intention of trying to shoot the penguins swimming underwater through one of the glass observation windows.

I spent an uneventful hour kneeling by the glass this morning, no keepers, so decided to walk the rest of the park before having another shot after lunch. Spent another hour between 2 and 3 pm - they seemed a bit more active so got a few keepers. This is the first one processed

They swim quite close to the glass, so a wide angle lens was needed to get the whole body in the frame. There was also no chance of using a single point focus on the eye, so, I think for the first time ever i used the middle block of focus points in AI servo mode and let the camera decide

That's a great image, especially considering the place you were shooting.

Yes considering it was shot through dirty and no doubt scratched glass that has come out brilliantly, you'd never know if you hadn't have told us.
