          Nice photo and I like the composition the only thing I'm not sure on is the second Meerkat as he looks a little soft and being so close to the other I think that should be in focus too

                  By what I can see the right hand Meerkat is further away (behind) the other one hence the softness, but not to distract from a superb shot.

                    sorry maybe soft was the wrong term to use and yes I agree its a nice photo I just think with a better DoF and the other sharp it could have been more interesting - but I'm not taking anything away from a good photo

                      I used the 70-200 2.8 MkII and the focal point was on the eyes of the Meerkat standing. I wanted the background out of focus and the "trade off" was a bit of softness on the Meerkat on the right.

                        the 70-200 2.8 has caught me out a few times when opened up the DoF is very shallow, although for me it was an error ;o(
