Just FYI, in 2002, about 13 years ago, I came across a black squirrel on a hike and bike trail near our home. I had never seen one before, and I've never seen one since. We have more than enough gray squirrels and fox squirrels, and rarely a red squirrel, in our yard, but never a black squirrel. We're in Houston, about 40 miles as the crow flies, from the Gulf of Mexico. Took this picture when I jumped off my bike, with a 2MP Canon. So these guys are around, just not often seen.

We have them in Letchworth Hertfordshire. Seen plenty in the garden.Comment
