    Migration Crossing

One of the best wildlife spectacles I have ever witnessed is the great migration crossing of the Mara river. The noise , dust and sheer numbers of animals all running the gauntlet of crocs and waiting predators the other side is an unbelievable sight. There are a number of casualties lying in the river from previous crossings and on this occasion the herds were ambushed by lions who were hiding in the croton thickets on the far side.

It certainly tells a story and makes you want to be there to experience it first hand. When were you there?

Thanks Ian , it is indeed an amazing sight , it can be gruesome when the crocs get to work and if its a big crossing there can be quite a few casualties with the hooved animals trampling each other as they try and get out of the river and many break limbs which then make easy pickings for the big cats. All part of African life I guess.
