    Hippopotamus



    Something a little bit different. Saw this guy walking away from the Sand river at Mala Mala in South Africa. The river was not deep enough for him to spend the day out of the sun. He looks very forlorn and has many scars as well as a nasty wound which may have been the result of an attack by a predator. He has the ever present red-billed ox-peckers for company.

    1DX/300mm f2.8 L IS II lens/1.4 III converter.

      Another top notch picture John. Very sharp and nice. I am aware that Hippos have killed far more human beings than the big cats.

            Mainly because they get between the mother and her young.
