    Giraffes Fighting

    A strange pose to see Giraffes in but these two were fighting each other for a good 30 minutes . They look very ungainly when engaging like this and the noise they generated when thrashing each other with their hard bony horns was really loud. It was like someone beating a drum as they pounded each other in the ribs , legs and hnid quarters.

        Agree it is a strange pose. I thought Giraffes used their long necks to whack their opponents!

                  Thanks Tony , yes the fights can be brutal , they stand side by side and then swing back their necks and hammer their horns into the rival usually in the ribs or hind legs, as I said in original post the thud when they made contact with each other was extremely loud

                    A good capture of an unusual pose. Its one of those pics when its hard too sort out the two animals.
