    Where's everyone gone

The vastness of the Mara plains never ceases to amaze me. This lone Giraffe was sheltering from the afternoon sun under an Acacia tree , apart from the lilac breasted roller in the top of the tree and ourselves in our game vehicle, you could see or hear nothing else as far as the eye as could see in all directions , truly at one with the natural world.

Lovely evocative image, Steve. Encapsulates the vastness, and typifies the vegetation (as I'm sure you know 'Mara' is Maasai for 'spotted' from the acacia dotted across the savannah).

When I see images like this it makes me weep for the poor giraffes stuck in small enclosures in zoos, true they'll never get hunted, but to loose that freedom must be heartbreaking., super shot.
