Pesky Rat after bird seeds & peanuts

I seem to find rats instead of birds more often than not. I found this fellow on the bird table enjoying a quiet gourmet time.

Thanks Trev. There was a Stoat around which kept the rat (& Squirrel) population under control but cannot see the Stoat anymore.

I like to see Rats in the wild , though more likely to see them around humans , particularly where there are food opportunities . My friends keep free range chickens , and have a Rat problem . Every effort to eradicate them has failed , poisoning , shooting , flooding , smoking have all been side stepped by the Rats , they are so very clever .

Thanks Mark and Tom. I have seen Rats quite often around or under bird feeders in our nature reserves. This particular rat/rats swim in the lagoon/pond and get to the tree trunks from where they get on to the bird table.
