Nice images, interesting to see comparison to the elk I've been photographing recently.

Not heard red deer call but elk call is rather shrill and not at all what I was expecting.

It is a deep bellowing huff noise a bit like a cow but shorter

Really nice set, although #2 is partially looking away that is the shot I favour as it seems to stand out the best from the background

Lovely looking Beast , from the little I know the Reds should be well into the Rut now , with the Fallow Rut rapidly approaching , he dosn`t appear to have many does or challengers . 1 and 3 would be my faves .

First and second are my favourites.

The Rut seems to be a bit late this year. I have only seen a bit of practise sparring and nothing in earnest. The Rangers I have spoken to think that the lack of cold weather has delayed things.
