If it really has a hairy tail, and relatively small ears, surely it must be a vole rather than a mouse? Looks nothing like a dormouse, which are never found on the ground anyway and are strictly nocturnal.EOS 6D, 6D Mk II, 80D, 70D, 100D, 200D, M50, M100. Coming back to you on this one Carol -Looking at it more closely I think we have either a young stoat or weasel. What length was it and how long was the tail.Trev

Sorry to cause controversy folks. The animal was quite long and I would say the tail less than half the length of the body, if that helps?Regards,

Guess we will struggle to get to the bottom of it , but think your way off with Stoat or Weasel , the coat looks to course and the wrong colour , the legs, feet and ears are not furry enough , I am going with vole , from Carols description the tail is to short for a Rat .
