    Australian fruit bats

    Just back from a week in the Melbourne area; in Bendigo is a huge fruit bat colony which I just happened to walk past and only noticed because of the general squawking and shuffling. To put the colony in context this is just one tree:

          Thanks guys. It actually seems to be a grey-headed flying fox:


          It was described to me by a local as having become a bit of a pest since they go out and strip the local vineyards.
