    Less is more - mouse

Got some macro focussing rails today - so I took the opportunity to take this picture. Uncropped, only levels adjusted

    50d, 180macro, f32, 1/200, iso 100, flashed with 580EXII

My word, you have a trained mouse - I'm envious !

Its a cute little thing with good detail and colour. Nice use of limited depth of field too. A fun shot for a grey day

Mouse was a present from my cat

I am trying to train her to catch birds without taking the feathers out

Made me chuckle Colin, you must have a script writter on the payroll, Macro rails does the 180 lens fix to bellows then extend on the rails. (been a long time since I heard the term macro rails)

This is a tripod accessory. Mount the lens on the rails and attach to tripod (I have the adjuster plate on a quick release plate). Set up tripod and adject focus approx by lens ring.

I then use LiveView to zoom in to max magnification and then adjust the focus through the micro adjustment. The other benefit of using LiveView is that when using M then LiveView shows what you will get (if not using flash) so you can adjust the levels this way.

                here is the gadget

Very useful for macro focus stacking Brian.

Thanks for that explanation Brian, and the link, it's not what macro rails were, these are so much more easy to use and not really that costly.
