    Brownsea Red Squirrel

One of the best places to spot the reds on Brownsea is by the Villa although it must be close on a year since even seeing one there. Today we had just finished lunch when this little chap appeared and stayed in the open long enough for a few shots before disappearing up the top of the nearest tree.

Well done Stan, you are very fortunate.

The last time that Brian and I went over, we both had 500mm's on the camera, hoping to get shots of the red squirrels.
We had one walk between us, less than two feet away and we couldn't get the shot, as the closest focussing distance of the 500mm is 4.5metres.

OK you say, just wait until it gets further than 4.5m. That's what we thought, but before it got that far, it scampered up the rear of a tree, into the canopy and all we saw was the occasional glimpse against the light.

Even the 300 with converter is usually too long so when we are at the Villa I always put the 70-200 and converter on the camera to be prepared. These shots were all at 280mm.
Its a lot easier to capture them at BWC

nice ones Stan. Colin, I'm convinced that they all know to within a foot what the MFD for all canon lenses. The little so and so's have done that to me at both Brownsea and BWC
My camera is helping to look at the world more closely, then record what I see to share with others.

Cheers Brian. I got lucky yesterday but unfortunatly Dee took a comfort break just before he appeared and by the time she came back he was high in the trees

What a great set of images.

Maybe you need to ply Dee with more coffee in the future so that she is "absent" when these opportunities happen....

it works both ways though, I am often otherwise engaged when she gets THE shot
