    If of a delicate disposition, do not open

    I assume this is fox poo and one has to assume that its placement on a molehill was deliberate - but why?

    Yes it’s Fox, can always be identified by the pointed end. They use mole hills or any other prominent objects -tufts of grass, logs etc. for territory marking. Same as a Badger will dig ‘dung pits’ around their territory.
    Not good for the mole to find someone has shite on its doorstep
