    Stags in Richmond Park, London

    Hi

Complete failure today to get any good shots at Barnes WWT, so I went to Richmond Park instead as a consolation! I'm glad I did!

This Stag was walking around looking for something to pick on... I took this from behind a tree, but he saw me!

These took were tussling each other, quite gently at first!

Moved to new position to attempt some silhouette shots - something I've not really tried! It almost worked! Any advice on camera settings would be appreciated!

My favourite shot of the day! Cropped, but not sure on the crop! Happy to hear suggestions!

    WDYT?

    All the best, Mike.

I love the silhouette shots, particularly the last one. The stag on the right seems to be bellowing.

He was! Not the most pleasant of nature's noises!

      Thanks Mazzie!

            Mike these are great.
I like #2 for the action, a bigger lens (400mm or 500mm) would of been perfect for that one.
The silhouette are great and #4 just tops the selection.
I even like the grass in the stags antlers (far left).
You must of had a great day m8, well done.

The last one needs a caption or something.

              Thanks Stephen

Yeah, all I needed was a different lens and camera, and I'd have been sorted! lol Come on Christmas - 7D and a 500mm on the list (but I bet I get socks again).

Have a great time in Anglesey!

                You're lucky to get socks.

8 days to go until I visit Anglesey.
Taking pills for spinal pain so hope it eases before I go.

                  Hi Mike
I think Richmond Park has made up for it - somewhere I have never been although of course we drove past on the way home from Barnes and saw a sign to the Old Deer Park - is that where they are ?

I really like the last silhouette, spot on but a bit of a shame the deer on the left is looking out of the frame - but no problem easy to turn round

Another vote for the silhouette shots. Also like the first shot where the stag is looking straight at you.

All I'm managing is insects and flowers... I need to get out more.

                        Hi Stan

Yes, that's it! I was looking at the original wondering what was needed, and I think you've got it! Many thanks!

I'll have a play in PSE9 and see if I can re-create it!

Many thanks, all the best, Mike.

just made a rectangular selection around the deer, then right click and free transform, flip horizontal. Move into position and fill the gaps using either the healing brush or the clone tool
