Nice shot Stan great details and colour, I think that it would be even better if you were to crop the knot off the bottom of the twig as I personally find it distracting

Hi Stan lovely image of a beatiful little bird, agree with Muscat's comment regarding the twig, hadn't noticed it before, then it became an eye magnet, strange how that happens.

Lovely shot and clearly I can learn a lot from people on this forum. I agree that it would improve with cropping but I would crop just enough from the right hand side to lose the knot and leave the twig leading in from the very bottom corner, then just crop sufficient off the top to maintain the proportion.
Hope you find this constructive. I am good at cropping it's just taking the photos I have trouble with

normally I like to maintain the ratio so your suggestion is fine but it would then leave the bird too central in the frame so the best thing to do would be to forget the ratio and just crop some across the bottom

You are right Stan,
it’s a terrific shot and if you crop the right side you would lose the space the bird is looking into, and it would be to central, just a touch of the bottom would be good.

Lovely birds these - had bunches of them at the last house but this winter in the new place not seen a single one! Nice capture - don't need to say any more about the knobbly bit!!
