Shot yesterday at Blashford Lakes, this one flew in very close to the hide so full frame just with my 300 f4

I had almost forgotten how pretty they were close up. From a distance they look very monochrome. Which hide were you in?

Only having seen Lapwings from a distance, (even rarer sightings these days) never knew they were such a beautiful bird. lovely image thanks for sharing.

Just seen this Stan ... you've captured that 'mica paintwork' very well indeed ... [Metamers I think they are called ... it is rather a long time I studied such things at University].

Also another good example of what the 300 f/4 on a 7D can do ... a combination I like and use.

Only having seen Lapwings from a distance,

they dont normally come quite as close, so i was taken a bit by surprise but had time to remove the 1.4x to be able to get him all in the frame
