    An African Eagle of some sort

    This was taken in the Lewa Consveration north of Mount Kenya recently. we were on a game drive looking for rhino and came across this eagle and I forget the name of it.

    Great shot. It may be martial eagle, very common in that part of the world.

        Often called Snake Eagles in Kenya, Sometimes Martial and sometimes Tawny.

              Thanks for commenting. We saw quite a few different birds (I very rarely take shots of birds - can't get close enough) Vultures were easy to photograph as they were too busy feeding - i'll post some of those shots when i've weeded out the rubbish. Our guide did say what this one was and I vagely remember Tawny. Still its a cracking looking eagle

                I like the African Fish Eagle the best. The name tells you everything you need to know:

                    A nice pose but considering the equipment you were using there seems to be very little detail in most of the feathers

                      The detail is there in the raw ans psd file but seems to be lost in the jpeg compression. In the psd file you can see the individual ribs of the feathers and in addition this is a large crop from the original
