    Kestrel with a macro lens

Rainham Marshes on Saturday, put the 100mm macro lens on and off we went - came across this young fella looking for breakfast.

    #1 - 1/800, f/6.3, iso 100

    #2 - 1/800, f/4.5, iso 100

    #3 - 1/800, f/4, iso 100

    #4 - 1/1000, f/4, iso 100 - caught a lizard

    #5 - 1/1000, f/5.6, iso 100 - mind the fence

    Then shot back to the car and grabbed the 70-200 2.8 . . . . . .

    . . . . and grabbed these,

    #6 - 1/800, f/4.5, iso 100, 200mm

    #7 - 1/1250, f/3.2, iso 100, 200mm

    #8 - 1/1250, f/3.5, iso 100, 200mm - bit of an itch

    #9 - 1/1250, f/3.2, iso 100, 200mm

Not the best perch etc BUT a wild Kestrel, the first set with a macro lens [shakes head] just couldn't believe our luck.

    Thanks for looking

    .DAVID.

David you have done very well with the macro lens.
Sometimes just using what you have at the time produces great results.
      I really like #3 & #5.
      Well done

        David

You jammy bugger! Great shots, and it just goes to prove you have to be out there to get the luck, and you did!

Really like the close ups, but the first ones with the 100mm are still better than any Kestrel shots I've got. Well done sir!

        All the best, Mike.

Very well done David. If you had not mentioned the 100mm macro lens I wouldn't have guessed it at all. However I must say that I like the second series better as they are bigger, more detail and the colours come out nicely on my monitor. I am still to see a Kestrel!

Re: Kestrel with a macro lens

All greatly detailed especially with the macro but the first and third of the second batch are the pick of the bunch, especially the portrait - brilliant detail
