Egrets and Asian Openbill Storks, Bang Pra wetlands, Chonburi Province

RayongRay and I went hunting the kingfisher again and although we caught sight of only one, apparently so did it us. Hours in the tents where we last saw it went unrewarded and no doubt it returned the moment we'd left.
Still, it was a good day out and amongst other things there was an abundance of these egrets and Asian openbill storks perched en-masse in the trees around the numerous lakes.
I'd only just traded in my 70-200 f4L II for a 2.8L IS II and when pixel peaking its clear to me that I need to calibrate it, especially in combo with the 2xIII, but if you'll forgive that and promise not to peek too closely, I hope you like them anyway.

Thanks Stephen - I thought for a moment that these egrets and storks were going to turn into a duck!
They're not the usual assortment of closeup, pin sharp shots of beautiful birds but I think they portray their natural habitat in Thailand nicely - if anyone ever gets to Bangkok, its well worth a photo-trip to Bang Pra, barely an hour away and completely free of tourists and entrance fee. Google it and read the blogs - a great selection of birds.
Have a great new year - hope all comes right for you in 2013 - DLTBGYD!
      Cheers

A nice series Andy. I however like 4 & 5 the best- perhaps 4 a wee bit better. Thanks for sharing.

I did not associate Thailand i.e Bangkok, Pattaya and other cities with wild life but with marvellous temples and "beatufitul lady boys "shows/cabarets. Will keep this in mind.

A nice series of images. But the 1st & 3rd are tops for me.
