    Jackdaw

    We took 2 of the grandchildren to Leeds Castle yesterday and whilst I was waiting for my grandson to go and take is picture of the castle this little fellow flew by, it was a quick grab shot with the 24-105mm lens on my 5D3,it is also quite a big crop

    Re: Jackdaw

    For a grab shot; it's a cracker... Well done. I like Jackdaws; it's those spooky ice-blue eyes!

    The 24-105 is a superb lens; I have a couple of birdie good-uns with that and a 5DII
    Cheers;

        Lightning fast reactions and good results.

        The sunlight picking out the iridescence of his feathers is superb.

          Not an easy one and good pose and detail

          No one seems to have mentioned the halo around the bird - probably due to resize/sharpening for upload. I always resize on a duplicate layer, so if the halos appear it is an easy matter to mask them out

            Thanks guys, yes Stan you are correct in the halo has appeared on the sharpened and uploaded image, I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it, I will have to look at trying your suggestions.

              its also useful if you overdo the whole sharpening business because as well as masking you can also very the opacity of the mask and or layer to really fine tune

                  Thanks Stan, I am going to have to experiment as I had added the sharpening in LR not PS6

                        Beautiful capture of a stunning and much under-rated bird, don't bother with the processing etc, for a shot as good as this just convert it and post it up!
