    Avocets

DP Snapper and myself headed down the road to Upton Warren to see what we could see.

Living this far inland it's amazing the amount of bird life is attracted to these pools. The only problem now is the need for a 500mm lens to capture all the birds. I was limited to my 70-200mm f4 IS USM and DP kindly allowed me the use of his 1.4x which means all these posts have been cropped considerably. It was a great day out and will be back soon enough.

    All taken with the 7D 70-200mm f4 IS USM + 1.4x

I was so pleased with my first Avocet sighting and shot, so I can appreciate how you feel with these.

Yes it was a great day out. We both got a few reasonable images and met some interesting Birders/Photographers.

Nice shots Dave - especially the mallard capture.

Hi Colin - I saw one of these many years ago and to discover that they are just a few miles down the road, miles from there normal habit was quite annoying and thrilling. It's amazing what you can find on your own doorstep if you take the time to look.

Thank you Tom,Stephen and Dave for looking and your comments.

            Dave.
