Thanks Tom,Colin for taking a peek and for your comments. The Lapwing seems to be a "resident" there as I saw it on my previous visit as well. So this was a bonus for me. Yes, Colin, I thought the two who did not obey the "look right" command were shell ducks but was not sure,as I have not seen them in this particular RSPB reserve. You have anyway, confirmed that they were shell ducks.

P.s. as a point of info to the members, this was the first time I used my lens with the lens coat and I must say that the lens was quite "warm" and nice to hold esp in the blustery wind, whistling through the "watch windows" in the hides.Last edited by Nathaniel; 15-04-2013, 12:24.Canon 6D; Canon 760D;Canon G15;Canon 40mm f2.8(Pancake);Canon 50mm f1.8(ii); Canon 17mm-40mm f4L;Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM;Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 STM lens;Canon 24mm-105mmf4L IS;Canon 70-300mm f4-f5.6 L IS USM;Kenko 1.4x HD TC;Canon 430EX ii flash;Giottos tripod;Manfretto monopod;Cokin P filters + bits and pieces!

Lapwings are no where near as numerous these days. I remember large flocks in fields etc.
There is a field close to where I live where several pairs return every year to nest.
It looks like summer has arrived at last as I saw 2 swallows this lunch time (Saddleworth near Oldham) though I guess they are already present in the South of the country.Canon 5D3, 7D2, 60D, Canon 70-200L f2.8 IS II, Canon 300 f4L IS, Canon 16-35 f4 L, Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, Canon 1.4 MkIII extender, Sigma AF 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM, Sigma 150-600 Contemporary, Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD, Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS

Re: Our "free" birds- Conwy RSPB 13th April 2013
The Lapwing has been at that same spot now since the 13th April and I know the reason why- to locate a place to lay her eggs. this is borne out in my latest posts.Canon 6D; Canon 760D;Canon G15;Canon 40mm f2.8(Pancake);Canon 50mm f1.8(ii); Canon 17mm-40mm f4L;Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM;Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 STM lens;Canon 24mm-105mmf4L IS;Canon 70-300mm f4-f5.6 L IS USM;Kenko 1.4x HD TC;Canon 430EX ii flash;Giottos tripod;Manfretto monopod;Cokin P filters + bits and pieces!
