Good colours Nat, you could have done with your 300f4L and x1.4 to get the chicks closer.

I fully agree Alan. I regretted not taking my 300mm plus. The "weight" issue put me off. Anyway, will not make this decision again.

        Nat
you have taken much better shots than these , the first two the chicks are lost among the reeds and the first and 4th the adult is looking away from you. The third one works much better as you can see the almost interaction between mum and chick but you need to crop off the two in the water who are swimming away to focus attention on the mum and other chick

Hi Stan. Thanks for taking your time to take a look. Quite technical stuff for me re photo 3 but I know exactly what you mean. I did wonder about cropping the two chicks moving away from mum but thought I'd keep them in the frame. Yes,I can easily crop the two chicks away. Most of my other bird shots are taken with my 300mm lens +1.4TC but with WWT centres I prefer the 70-200 +1.4TC as I don't see many wild birds at these centres. I may be wrong. Re the other chicks, they were moving into and out of the reeds and rather difficult to get them in the frame. Anyway I will bear your comments in mind as I am going after "birds" in a big,big way
