    Jay - static & flight

    Spotted this jay on one of the bridges at Barnes on Saturday

    1/400, f 9, ISO 400, 420mm

    By the time i alerted Dee he was off into the trees but she did manage to grab a couple in flight

    Ah, so that's probably the Jay you were talking about!

    Very nice shots... I've still to get my Jay shot, pity we didn't meet up earlier!

                  I've still to get my Jay shot, pity we didn't meet up earlier!
                  It was the same one i think but not sure your 300 would have been able to do it justice as it was marginal with my 300 and converter and still a big crop
                  No 2, for me Stan,
                  I have never got anywhere near to one in flight

                              Great shots of a very shy bird

                              By coincidence just an hour before you posted I was following (about 20 yards away) a Jay down the edge of a fir plantation - and got a shot almost identical to yours using the same shutter speed and aperture. He kept flitting from post to ground and back. I was amazed that he didn't fly away and assume he was picking up insects. Unfortunately I didn't get him in flight
