    Sparrowhawk from 2009

Having read Pauls post about the Sparrowhawk, I decided to look back to see what sparrowhawk images I had lurking in my old files.

This is one from the first of April 2009 taken out of a bedroom window whilst trying not to scare the bird away. It was perched on our garden fence and as I remember it was quite a regular visitor during that year. The image is a large crop, quite noisy and soft but I thought I would share it with you.

I suspect that this is the same bird, this time perched on a raised bed which I was constructing at the time taken on 26/4/2009. Again taken out of a window the kitchen I think

Thanks for your comments Tom and Stan.
The Sparrowhawks here certainly terrorise the bird feeders. They fly through the spaces between the houses using them like urban clearways to sneak up on the feeders in peoples gardens. I've seen one fly off our garden fence in to shrubs to get at small birds, I dont know how they don't damage themselves as they really do move at speed when they do that.
