Mr and Mrs Swan @Titchfield Haven

Taken last Wednesday early morning before I saw the Black Swan, Kingfisher and the Osprey - see other threads I posted- the early light made this pair stand out and they were clearly bonding again. The male had driven their 2 cygnets away earlier.

    Excellent detail and light John

Is it full frame as it really needs a bit more room either side and the bottom - did you get the full reflections

HI Stan - Yes it's full frame plus - I actually had a tiny part of the left hand swan's tail feather clipped - so extended the canvas and added in the tail feathers from the next image where they were present. I agree it would have been great to have the full reflection. Regards John

Love the feather texture and lighting, but as Stan says, the reflection would have been the icing on the cake. Maybe that 200-400/1.4 would have been ideal! ;-)

Hi Steve and Stan - If I need to make a case for a 200-400 then I am collecting evidence from you both! Regards John

LOL - I thought the same thing... I bet he was about half a mile away!

Nice shot though, maybe I'm just jealous of the kit he's got!

                          Well done. Mike.

Many thanks Lee - will do so. I am hoping to have a 200-400 for a day and compare to my other kit. Regards John

Hi Mike - Thanks for the kind comments - I was about 25m away and this was just too close and just clipped off the LH swan's tail feathers. I was able to copy the feather from the next image I took and paste it onto the first image. The swans did move away from me but the pose they had changed and was not as good. I was definitely too close with the black swan - posted in another thread and a long range zoom would have been ideal. Regards John
