    Stonechat

This is another of the stonechats at Hengistbury Head. This one is a male and also, I think, a juvenile but a bit older than those posted the other day. I have left the twigs on the right to avoid the background becoming too bland

Great light and stunning background. Have you tried it with the twigs cloned out? You could then crop a bit off the right so the bird is not so central.

I left those in really to see what people thought and the idea being to add something to get away from just a bird on a stick. Here is without and cropped from the right which then left too much dead space on the left, so some off that side too ( i think i prefer this one)

we do get some sun down here, although you wouldnt think it to look outside today. The evening light was perfect on this one but generally to get the appearence of good light, even sometimes when there really isnt any is a combination of shooting to the right, getting the histogram over to the right without blowing the highlights , and then the processing

Beautiful little fella (the stonechat not you - shakes head) prefer the bigger shot with the twigs, no reason other than it 'looks nicer'.

The one with the twigs cloned out looks great. As I said before that's a stunning background, the bird's pretty good as well.

                    Thanks Brian

Like you I always go for non distracting backgrounds and with this one i was lucky the gorse and shrubs were a fair way off in the distance
